The IOC called unacceptable statements of the head of the IBA Umar Kremlev

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) condemned the statements of the head of the International Boxing Association (IBA), Russian Umar Kremlev. It is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the organization.

“Hate speech and derogatory remarks against individuals working for the IOC who are simply performing their professional duties are simply unacceptable,” the organization said in a statement.

On June 14, Kremlev said that the problems of the IBA are not connected with the Olympic movement as a whole, but with individuals working in the IOC. According to him, they are “trying to destroy boxing for personal gain and hiding under suits and ties in their imaginary pocket corporations.”

On June 7, the IOC Executive Board recommended that IBA recognition be withdrawn. This decision was made because the association did not fulfill the necessary conditions for the restoration of membership. At the same time, boxing was recommended to be kept in the program of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
