The Navarrese golfer Carlota Ciganda conquered this Sunday the Andalusia Costa del Sol Open of Spain, last competition of the 2021 calendar of the Ladies European Tour (LET), which was played at Los Naranjos Golf Club in the Malaga town of Marbella, with 4 income shots over the Swedish Maja Stark, Monday.
Ciganda had three strokes of advantage first thing in the morning on the Thai Atthaya Thitikul, and he was brave not to lose control of the Malaga route. “I am extremely happy and excited, it is the achievement of what I have been pursuing for many years,” he said in statements provided by the Spanish Golf Federation (RFEG).
Larrainzar’s met with the greatest resistance in Thitikul and Stark, but he responded with quality and was causing the errors of his rivals, such as the bogey and the double bogey made by the Thai woman on the first and fifteenth holes of the course.
The Spanish Open is the fifth championship that Ciganda has achieved on the European Tour. Previously it was done with the Deloitte Ladies Open (Netherlands, 2012), the China Suzhou Taihu Open (China, 2012), the UniCredit Ladies German Open (Germany, 2013) and the Estrella Damm Mediterranean Ladies Open (Spain, 2019). In addition, he has two other victories on the LPGA circuit: LPGA KEB Hana Bank Championship (South Korea, 2016) and Citibanamex Lorena Ochoa Invitational (Mexico, 2016).
