Born in Senegal, Mikayil Faye started his career playing for Diambars Football Club. His outstanding performances caught the eye of Croatia’s second division DK Kustosija Zagreb, who signed the defender last winter in February. For the Croatian club, despite his age, he started 11 of the 13 matches he played.

Aiming to develop young players with good potential, Barça saw a market opportunity and bought the Senegalese jewel, which will initially join Barcelona B and may gain a chance in the professional with coach Xavi in the future.
