Zhurova urged to send the convicted foreign player of Spartak Promes to prison
First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs and Olympic champion in speed skating Svetlana Zhurova spoke about the verdict on the foreign striker of Spartak Quincy Promes in the case of attacking his cousin. It is reported by “Sport-Express”.
She called for the player to be sent to jail. “This is a criminal prosecution. Interpol will find out if they should expel him. We do not have an extradition agreement, but there is international cooperation,” Zhurova said.
On June 19, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to 1.5 years in prison. The player was found guilty of involvement in an armed attack and stabbing a cousin. Currently, the player is in Moscow.
Promes returned to Spartak in February 2021. Prior to that, from 2014 to 2018, he played for the red-and-whites, becoming the champion of Russia and the owner of the country’s Super Cup with the team.
