Russian champion who beat two people in shorts was sentenced to a penal colony

The court sentenced Russian champion Hytte to two years in prison for beating two people

The press service of the courts of St. Petersburg announced the verdict to the four-time champion of Russia in sprint Alexander Hytte for beating two people. This was reported in the Telegram channel of the instance.

The athlete was sentenced to two years in a penal colony. The court also exacted 40,000 rubles from Hytte on account of the material damage of the victim, and 450,000 rubles on account of non-pecuniary damage. It is noted that the athlete partially admitted guilt.

The incident involving the runner became known on June 3. At the end of May, Hytte, who was wearing only underpants, attacked a 49-year-old woman in the entrance of a house in St. Petersburg, and an hour later he hit a 54-year-old man several times in an elevator. The victims were hospitalized: the woman was taken to the hospital in a satisfactory condition, the man in a moderate condition.

A criminal case was initiated against the athlete under Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm”). The athlete was not taken into custody, as he turned himself in and had not been previously convicted.
