Russian striker of the Washington Capitals club Alexander Ovechkin was without a place in the twenty best draft picks in the history of the National Hockey League (NHL). This was reported on the website of the organization.

The hockey player took 21st place in the ranking. He was selected by the Capitals in the 2004 draft with the first overall pick. It is noted that 13 authors and editors of the resource participated in the survey.

On June 15, two-time Olympic champion Vyacheslav Fetisov praised Ovechkin’s political potential. According to him, the 37-year-old striker makes consistent political statements.

Ovechkin has been playing in the NHL since 2005. He spent all seasons in North America with Washington. Together with the club, the hockey player won the Stanley Cup in 2018. With the Russian national team, Ovechkin won three world championships.
