England thrash Malta in Euro 2024 qualifiers thanks to own goal

England beat Malta 4-0 in Euro 2024 qualifier

The England national football team defeated the team of Malta in the qualifying match for the European Championship 2024. This is reported by the correspondent of “Lenta.ru”.

The meeting was held at the Ta-Kali stadium in Malta and ended with a score of 4:0. In the 9th minute, the hosts’ defender Ferdinando Apap scored an own goal. Then, in the 28th minute, the guests forward Trent Alexander-Arnold scored a goal. Three minutes later, Harry Kane converted the penalty. Another penalty was successfully shot by Callum Wilson at the end of the second half.

Thus, the England team continues to lead the standings in Group C. With three victories, the team scored nine points. Malta is in fifth place with three defeats.

The group stage of the Euro 2024 qualifiers will end on 21 November 2023. Italy is the reigning European football champion. In the final match, the team beat England in a penalty shootout.
