Barcelona is looking to reinforce its squad for next season and one of the main targets is Vitor Roque, from Athletico-PR. the young striker would have arranged his transfer to Spanish footballbut Barca’s financial situation could delay his arrival.
According to the Mundo Deportivo newspaper, Barcelona will pay around 45 million euros to sign Vitor Roque this summer, but should register the Brazilian player only in January 2024 in order to adapt to the financial ‘fair play’ of The league.
That’s because Barca’s board and coaching staff don’t see Vitor Roque’s arrival as a priority in this transfer window. The most lacking position in the culé squad is the midfield, mainly due to the departure of Sergio Busquets, and Barcelona hopes to hire a replacement for the beginning of next season.
Therefore, a viable solution to the postponement of Vitor Roque’s arrival would be a loan of the 18-year-old striker to Athletico-PR until December, according to the Spanish newspaper.
With that, Barcelona would have economic conditions for hiring a midfielder and would prevent other clubs in Europe from signing with Vitor Roque, since the Brazilian would be agreed with Barça.
If this financial “maneuver” materializes, Athletico-PR could count on its center forward until the end of the season and would be able to use the player in the final stretches of the Brazilian Championship, Copa do Brasil and Libertadores.
This season, Vitor Roque scored 10 goals and provided five assists in 25 matches played for Athletico-PR. In February, the striker won the U-20 South American Championship with the Brazilian national team, having scored six goals in the campaign.
