Quoted to replace Luciano Spalletti in charge of Napoli, coach Paulo Sousa denied that he is leaving Salernitana for the current Italian champion. In an interview with the newspaper Solo ex-Flamengo said he plans to stay on the team.
“Now, my idea is to stay. I’m already working for next season, I’ve already presented the sporting director with the profile of players we need to strengthen the team and I don’t see any reason to change the plan we’re building”, he said.
Paulo Sousa also praised the structure of his current club. The Portuguese spoke a little about the board’s plans and said that he greatly values the work being built within Salernitana.
“The president is willing to acquire land next to our training field, so that we can build a true sports city, with everything that the players need. I value this effort a lot”, he added.
In Italy since February, Paulo Sousa was free on the market since he was fired from Flamengo. The coach took over Salernitana at the bottom of the table and saved the team from relegation, finishing the championship in 15th place.
