Robinho did not believe he was being convicted of rape in Italy when the information first reached him. A year after the crime, the former player became aware of it when he was at a disco in Milan. The conversation could be heard in audios that were used for the conviction in the Italian Justice, released by UOL. Robinho was in the car with Ricardo Falco, but both did not know that the vehicle was bugged.
The musician Jairo Chagas was the one who told Robinho that he was being called by the police to testify. However, the former athlete, nicknamed “Neguinho”, laughed at the situation, rejected any concerns and said he would punch the victim: “I don’t care”.

Robinho was tried in third and last instance in the Italian Justice for more than a year. In November of last year, his extradition was even requested, but the denial happened by the Ministry of Justice of Brazil based on article 5 of the Federal Constitution, which prohibits the extradition of Brazilian citizens.
Thus, the solution found by the Justice of Italy was to request the fulfillment of the sentence in Brazil. At the end of February, the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPF) told Justice that there was no restriction on serving the sentence in the country for a crime for which he was convicted in Italy.
The case took place in 2013 in Milan. According to the sentence, Robinho and five friends (Fabio Cassis Galan, Clayton Florêncio dos Santos, Alexsandro da Silva, Rudney Gomes and Ricardo Falco) raped an Albanian woman, and he and Ricardo ended up being convicted.
The other three men left Italy during the investigations and were not prosecuted. The penalty is nine years in prison, ultimately handed down in January 2022.
