FFKKR stated that the issue of material compensation for the change of citizenship was not raised
Press attaché of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) Olga Yermolina spoke about the financial features of changing citizenship by athletes. Her words are reported by Match TV.
“As for the transfers of athletes, there is not a single case that the FFKKR raised the issue of material compensation,” Yermolina said.
On May 5, it became known that the FFKKR executive committee approved the change of sports citizenship of the dance couple, silver medalists of the Russian Championship and participants in the 2022 Olympic Games Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin. “A new chapter in our sports life begins,” the figure skater, who is the daughter of Russian coach Eteri Tutberidze, commented on the situation.
On March 1, 2022, the International Skating Union (ISU) banned Russians from participating in competitions under its auspices. Due to sanctions, athletes were unable to take part in the World and European Championships, as well as in the Grand Prix series.
