Argentine striker Lionel Messi was detained by border guards at the airport in China. It is reported by Diario Sport.

According to the source, the 35-year-old football player arrived in China for a friendly match against Australia. It turned out that the reason for the detention was the absence of a visa from Messi. The Argentinean had to stay at the airport for two hours in order for the migration service to issue him a special urgent visa.

The match between the national teams of Argentina and Australia will be held on June 15. It will start at 15:00 Moscow time.

On June 7, Messi announced a move to American Major League Soccer club Inter Miami, owned by former England international David Beckham. The three-year agreement is expected to be formally signed on 1 July.
