The friendly match will be on December 4 in Houston, United States.
The 17-year-old central defender Diego Almeida, who plays for Spanish Barcelona, was called up this Friday by Ecuador coach Gustavo Alfaro for the December 4 friendly match against El Salvador in the US city of Houston.
Almeida, the son of Ecuadorians but born in Spain, was recently promoted to Barcelona’s first squad at the request of coach Xavi Hernández.
In addition to Almeida, Alfaro has called up the top scorer for La Tri in the South American qualifiers for the World Cup in Qatar with five, Michael Estrada; as well as Diego Palacios, Gustavo Vallecilla and Sebastián Méndez, who are active in American clubs.
Alfaro intends to take advantage of the friendly match to test young figures, as he has done with Bayer Levekusen defender Piero Hincapié (19 years old), English Brighton striker Jeremy Sarmiento (19), and Spanish Real Valladolid’s Gonzalo Plata (21) .
