Finalizing his contract with Leicester and considered by Liverpool, Belgian midfielder Yuri Tielemans is moving to Aston Villa. The announcement was made this Saturday.
The 26-year-old “will officially become a villan on 1 July after his Leicester contract expires,” the statement said.
With the Foxes since 2019, Tielemans has contributed enormously to the team’s fifth place finish in 2020 and 2021. This year he scored the winning goal in the FA Cup Final, 1-0 against Chelseawith a spectacular kick in which he sent the ball in an angle from a distance of 25 meters.
This season their performance was inferior and Leicester finished eighteenth in the Premier League, which is why they fell to the second division.
Spanish coach Unai Emery’s Aston Villa finished seventh in the league and qualified for the Conference League.
