Russian Tasoev received the gold of the world championship in judo after a proven mistake of the judges

At the 2023 Judo World Championships, the judges proved their mistake during the duel between Russian Inal Tasoev and Frenchman Teddy Riner. This is stated on the website of the International Judo Federation (IJF).

“The IJF declares both athletes the winners of the competition and awards Tasoev a gold medal and the corresponding rating points,” the organization said and apologized to the Russian. The revision of the results was made after expert analysis in accordance with the rules of the federation.

On May 13, in the final of the tournament in the weight of over 100 kilograms, Tasoev lost to Riner and received a silver medal. In extra time, which, according to the regulations, is carried out until the first point scored, the Russian judoka performed an action close to the result, but the judges did not change the score. After that, the Frenchman made a victorious action.

Tasoev, 25, is a two-time World Championship bronze medalist. He also has gold and silver of the European Championship.
