Agent Lev Kassil said that 15 percent of Russians received visas to participate in Wimbledon
It became known about the problems with the issuance of visas to Russian tennis players to participate in Wimbledon 2023. It is reported by TASS.
The agent of the second racket of the world Daniil Medvedev Lev Kassil said that so far only 15 percent of Russian players have received visas. He noted that the athletes took advantage of the expedited review service, which in Britain is provided for an additional fee of 1,000 pounds. “The money was taken from our and Belarusian tennis players, and then they refused to consider it in the express format,” Kassil added.
On March 31, the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), which organizes Wimbledon, allowed Russian and Belarusian tennis players who signed a “declaration of neutrality” to participate in the 2023 tournament. Later, information appeared that the athletes agreed to this condition.
In the spring of 2022, Russian tennis players were refused admission to tournaments in the UK, which is why domestic athletes were forced to miss Wimbledon. In other competitions, the Russians perform in a neutral status.
