The fifth place in the South American zone of Qatar World Cup qualifiers will face an Asian team worth a spot to participate in the Worlds next year. The draw was held this Friday in Zurich, Switzerland.
At the moment, it is not known which teams will play in mid-June 2022 in this one-game, neutral ground duel, whose winner qualifies for the Cup.
In the South American qualifiers, Brazil e Argentina are already classified, and the spot in the international playoffs will presumably be played between Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Uruguay e Bolivia, although the Paraguay still have a chance.
Peru is currently in fifth place, with 17 points from 14 matches, with four rounds remaining. It is the same score as Colombia, placed fourth, which has a higher balance.
The other intercontinental playoff will be played by a representative of the Concacaf (Central America, North and Caribbean) and a selection from Oceania.
There are currently no teams classified in the Concacaf octagonal tournament. At the moment, the three direct vacancies are with Canada (1), USA (2ยบ) e Mexico (3rd), while the Panama (4th) would compete in the recap.
