Even after relegation in Espanyol, Ronaldo says he will not sell Valladolid

Real Valladolid ended up being relegated to the second division of the Spanish Championship last Sunday, after drawing 0-0 with Getafe. Despite the fall, Ronaldo Fenômeno, owner of the club, declared that he does not intend to leave the command and dispose of the team.

“The club’s financial situation is stable. The market is very heated, but I won’t leave Valladolid until I manage to leave the legacy I want”, said the former player in a press conference this Monday.

Major partner of Valladolid since 2018, Ronaldo even proposed a goal of taking the team to European competitions within a period of five years. However, the team has added two relegations since the arrival of the new owner.

To get rid of the relegation, Valladolid just needed to beat Getafe, in a match that was practically a direct confrontation. Ronaldo thanked the fans for their support and expressed his dissatisfaction with the result.

“We are very sad, but at the same time convinced that we did as much as possible to stay. Thanks to the fans, who were phenomenal and yesterday’s reception was spectacular”, he said.

The club’s owner confirmed the permanence of coach Paulo Pezzolano for next season. The commander took over the team in April, after announcing his departure from Cruzeiro. Ronaldo also assured that sporting director Fran Sánchez will continue in his position.

“They will continue, they are fundamental pillars for us. We cannot plan the squad without knowing the budget that we will have”, he concluded.
