The first goal of the game was against and scored by Braga’s number 10, André Horta, and Otávio killed the duel in the final stretch. In the second stage, the Brazilian Wendell, from Porto, and Sikou Niakaté, from Braga, were expelled.

Porto, therefore, wins its 19th Portuguese Cup, the second consecutively, and crowns a season that saw the club take second place in the Portuguese Championship, behind rival Benfica. Braga, on the other hand, loses the chance to become four-time champion of the tournament, last won by the team in 2021.

The game

The Porto team started the match with everything and prevailed from the first minute by creating the main chances and not allowing space for the opponent to retaliate. Still, the first half did not see a goal and both sides went into the changing rooms still level on the scoreboard.

On the way back to the second half, both teams were offensive and tried to resolve the game in normal time. However, Porto continued superior and, finally, reached the first goal in the eighth minute with an own goal by André Horta. In the 17th minute, however, the game, which seemed under control, took on a dramatic turn after Wendell was expelled by the Porto side.

Braga did not take advantage of the opportunity and even had one expelled in their squad yet. Defender Sikou Niakaté committed a foul on the opponent’s counterattack and received a straight red. Shortly afterwards, Otávio scored Porto’s second goal, in the 36th minute, and gave final numbers to the confrontation.
