Tarasova spoke about the possible transition of her daughter Tutberidze to the Georgian national team

Tarasova said that the FFKKR did the right thing by releasing Davis and Smolkin to Georgia

Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova spoke about the possible transition of the Russian dance duo Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin to the Georgian national team. The words of the specialist are quoted by Sport-Express.

“Did you play for our country a lot? I don’t judge! Did the federation do the right thing? Certainly! There is no need to forbid people to live the way they want, ”Tarasova said.

Earlier on June 4, it became known that the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) allowed Davis, the daughter of Russian coach Eteri Tutberidze, and Smolkin to change sports citizenship. They intend to represent the Georgian national team. It is noted that another Russian woman, Annabelle Morozova, was not released to another team.

Davis and Smolkin made their senior Russian debut last season. They became eighth at the European Championships and took 14th place at the Beijing Olympics. In the 2022/2023 season, athletes living in the United States refused to compete in Russian tournaments due to problems with documents for leaving the country.
