Borussia Monchengladbach announced, this Friday, the resignation of their coach Daniel Farke. The professional had a contract until 2025, but will not continue after finishing the German Championship in tenth place with 43 points, the club’s worst result in 12 years.
The team has not released the name of his successor, but according to the German press, former Bayer Leverkusen coach Gerardo Seoane would be the best candidate to replace him. For the third consecutive time, Monchengladbach will start a season with a new manager, as Farke took over in July 2022 to replace Adi Huter, who had been in charge since the summer of 2021.
Eliminated in the second round of the German Cup this season, the team managed to close the Bundesliga with a victory over Augsburg last week, after spending most of the season in mid-table.
“We certainly didn’t achieve 100% of what we had set ourselves as a goal. But we are also far from a season that could be described as horrible”, Farke tried to justify at the end of the season.
Third in the Bundesliga in the 2014-2015 season, Borussia Monchengladbach played in the Champions League group stage three times in recent years (2015, 2017 and 2020), reaching the round of 16 in the last round.
