In the third round match, Rublev lost to Italian Lorenzo Sonego. The meeting ended in five sets with the score 7:5, 6:0, 3:6, 6:7 (5:7), 3:6. Athletes spent 3 hours and 42 minutes on the court. For reaching the quarterfinals of the tournament, the Italian will compete with the Russian Karen Khachanov.
On May 30, another Russian, Daniil Medvedev, dropped out of the tournament. He lost in the first round match to the Brazilian Thiago Wild. The game ended in five sets.
