“The internet is not reality”, says Benzema on alleged departure from Real Madrid

The attacker of Real MadridKarim Benzema, put an end, this Thursday (1), to rumors about his future and a possible transfer to Saudi Arabian football.

“Why am I going to talk about the future if I’m in Madrid? The internet is talking and the internet is not reality”, said Benzema when receiving an award for his career offered by the newspaper Brand.

The Meringue striker reacted like this after more information appeared in different media about an alleged Saudi interest in the player, who still has a year left on his contract with Real Madrid.

According to the Spanish press, Saudi Arabia would be willing to offer 200 million euros (about one billion reais at current exchange rates) for two seasons.

“For now I’m here, tomorrow I’m going to train. I enjoy every day and on Sunday I have a game”, added the French striker.

“I’m very proud of my work and I enjoy every training session, every match and the most important thing is to enjoy it. When I go to Valdebebas it’s not work for me because the day it’s work I won’t want it anymore”, guaranteed Benzema.

“I have fun with football like the boys and in my head I’m still a boy”, insisted the French striker, winner of 25 titles for Real Madrid, being the player with the most titles won by the merengue team alongside the Brazilian Marcelo (today at the Fluminense).

“I know how to score goals, but what I want in football, because I like football, is what I can do on the field: movements, assists… In my place, I try to do things that are not seen in other strikers”, stated Benzema.

The Meringue star assured that his role model is former striker Ronaldo Fenômeno, who “is not just a top scorer. He dribbles, he gives assists”.

Benzema, who has repeatedly reiterated that he is proud of his career at Real Madrid, also wanted to share the prize with his teammates.

“When a player receives a trophy it’s always with the whole team because without my teammates I can’t reach the level. I have talent, but you need help from another, we always need the help of the whole team”, said Benzema.

The Frenchman also claimed to have a great communion with the public at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

“When I’m on the pitch I feel that (the connection with the fans) and that gives me more confidence and I give everything for them,” said Benzema, who insisted: “We need the fans.”
