The permanence of striker João Félix in the Chelsea may have its days numbered. On Tuesday, the president of the Atletico MadridEnrique Cerezo, said that Mauricio Pochettino, the new coach of the English team, does not think about renewing the 23-year-old player’s contract.
“We’ve known for less than 24 hours. The Chelsea coach doesn’t want him, he’ll come when his contract ends and we’ll see what happens… We don’t have anything planned, but he’s an Atlético de Madrid player”, said the manager in a press conference.

João Félix arrived at Chelsea in January, on loan from the Spaniards until the end of the season. To stay permanently with the Portuguese, the London team would need to negotiate with Atlético, which does not intend to let the player leave for low figures.
The athlete arrived in Madrid in 2019 as the most expensive signing in the history of the club, which at the time paid 113 million euros (about R$ 613 million at current prices) to Benfica. Despite the great expectations, the striker failed to live up to it and must struggle to establish himself under Simeone’s command.
At Chelsea, João Félix was one of the few highlights in a very turbulent season. A regular with both Graham Potter and Lampard, the Portuguese scored four goals in 20 appearances for the Blues.
