The Russian men’s team remained in third place in the IIHF ranking after the 2023 World Cup
The Russian men’s team has retained its positions in the ranking of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) after the 2023 World Championship. The ranked list is available on the organization’s website.
The Russians remained in third place in the IIHF rankings. The domestic team has 4050 points. Team Canada (4150 points), which became the winner of the world championship, rose to the first place. The team Finland dropped to the second line (4080 points).
The German national team, the bronze medalist of the tournament, rose from ninth to fifth place (3835 points). For the first time in history, the Latvian team that won bronze at the World Championship also improved its position and moved up from 11th to 10th line (3610 points).
The 2023 World Championship was held in Tampere, Finland and Riga, Latvia from 12 to 28 May. Initially, the tournament was supposed to be hosted by St. Petersburg, but due to IIHF sanctions, the venue was moved.
The national teams of Russia and Belarus have been suspended from participation in international competitions since February 28, 2022 by decision of the IIHF.
