Muller and Musiala vibrate with exciting Bayern title

O Bayern Munchen won its 11th consecutive Bundesliga title on Saturday (27), thanks to a 2-1 away win over Cologne and a 2-2 draw between Borussia Dortmund and Mainz at Signal Iduna Park.

In an electrifying final round, Bayern secured the cup with a goal from Jamal Musiala in the 89th minute, in the most balanced championship since the beginning of its hegemony, in 2013.

“Football is just a sport, nothing is written in advance. We had to do our share of the work”, celebrated the attacking midfielder Thomas Muller.

“The most emotionally powerful title was probably the first one for me, when I was 19 or 20 years old, in our stadium. But this title is the craziest,” he added.

Dortmund, who reached the last round with two points ahead to win their first title since 2012, lived a nightmare in front of the 80 thousand fans present in their stadium.

The team ended the first half losing 2-0 to Mainz, who did not play anything in the league, with goals from Norwegian Andreas Hanche-Olsen (15′) and Austrian Karim Onisiwo (24′).

After missing several chances, including a penalty taken by Sebastien Haller (20′), saved by the goalkeeper, Dortmund still pulled out a tie in the second half with Raphael Guerreiro (69′) and Niklas Süle (90’+5), but not it was enough.

In Cologne, Kingsley Coman opened the scoring in the eighth minute for Bayern, who conceded the tie in the final straight of the match from a penalty kick by Dejan Ljubicice (81′).

But Musiala, who had come on four minutes earlier, scored the goal that gave the Bavarian giants the three points they needed to get past Dortmund.

“It was an incredible moment for me. It took me a minute to really understand what that meant,” explained the scorer of the title goal after the match.

“When I joined, the coach told me that we had nothing to lose and that we had to give everything to score a goal,” added Musiala.
