French champion Messi equals Daniel Alves as the player with the most titles in history

The 11th French title won by Paris Saint Germain (PSG) this Saturday was special for Messi. With another achievement, the Argentine equaled Daniel Alves as a football player with the most trophies raised in his career (43).

This is already the second time that the star raises the cup of French Championship by the Parisian club. Last season, he had already won the tournament, in addition to also winning the French Super Cup.

Messi’s other titles were won, for the most part, in Barcelona. In Catalonia, there were ten conquests of the Spanish Championshipeight Spanish Super Cup trophies, four Champions Leagueseven King’s Cups, three European Super Cups and three others Club World Cup.

For Argentina, the star won the America Cup of 2021, in addition to the Finalissima and the world Cup 2022 in Qatar. He also won the under-20 World Cup in 2005 and the gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Games.

The goal scored in the draw with Strasbourg this Saturday, which secured PSG’s national title, also yielded another record for Messi. The player reached the mark of 496 goals scored in the five main European leagues (Spanish, French, English, Italian and German). He has beaten Cristiano Ronaldo with 495, Jimmy Greaves with 366 and Gerd Müller with 365.

Close to goodbye, the Argentine should not wear the shirt of Paris Saint-Germain next season. The athlete did not reach an agreement with the Parisian club and is willing to listen to proposals in the June transfer window, when he will be free on the market. Barcelona fans have been campaigning for his return.

If he wins another title in 2023/24, Messi will isolate himself as the player with the most achievements in football, surpassing Daniel Alves. The Brazilian has been preventively arrested since January of this year, accused of raping a 23-year-old woman at the end of last year.
