The unique concert of the star of the Polish scene was preceded by the performance of the Sound’n’Grace choir, which performed its own interpretation of the singer’s hit “Czadu Maryla” from 1999. A moment later, Maryla Rodowicz appeared on the stage of the Forest Opera with a guitar. She started by singing her greatest hit, “Małgośki”. It turns out that she performed this song first for a reason.
Rodowicz to Miszczak: “This is not my last word”
After the performance, the artist greeted the audience, and Krzysztof Ibisz, the host of the event, appeared on the stage with a bouquet of flowers in his hand and the new program director of Polsat, Edward Miszczak. The showman announced that this year it was exactly twenty years since Polsat festivals were organized in Sopot, but admitted that it was nothing important for another jubilee.
He quickly announced that it was the 50th anniversary of the creation of the famous “Małgośka” and recalled the genesis of the composition. The author of the text, Agnieszka Osiecka, was to write it exactly half a century in the Grand Hotel cafe, writing famous phrases on napkins. The singer admitted that she sang this song live for the first time at the Forest Opera in 1973.
After a while, Edward Miszczak joined the discussion, saying enigmatically that today he prefers to talk to “Małgośka” than to Maryla. He began to praise the uniqueness of the song, not sparing his opinions: “It is the voice of the conscience of many women and it is also the remorse of the conscience of many women.” The artist corrected him, specifying that it was about “wronged women”.
Then the program director confessed that today he had the impression that today “Małgośka sings Maryla”, which Rodowicz did not seem to pay much attention to. When the artist came to the fore, she also thanked the composer of the song, Katarzyna Gärtner. After her words, there was a climax, i.e. the award of a special prize, with which the singer, according to Miszczak, could have a small problem:
50 years on the stage of Sopot, always present “Małgośka” – for all this! It’s so heavy… I don’t know if you can handle it. Thank you for 50 years of “Małgośka” – said Edward Miszczak.
– This is not my last word – said Miszczak Rodowicz. After receiving the award and flowers, the artist handed them over to the host and program director, and Krzysztof Ibisz began to encourage the crowd to chant for an encore. After a while, the men disappeared from the stage, and the singer sang her next song, “Colorful Fairs”.
