Argentina announces squad for June friendlies with presence of world champions

Lionel Scaloni, coach of the national team of Argentina, announced this Saturday the 27 squad for the friendlies on June’s FIFA Date, against Australia and Indonesia. These will be the team’s last games before the start of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

The coach chose to follow the same line as the last call-up and called most of the athletes who were present in the conquest in Qatar. In all, 19 athletes who lifted the cup were chosen by Scaloni again, including captain Lionel Messi.

Of the names left out, the one that calls the most attention is Lautaro Martínez. The striker will play in the final of the Champions League with the shirt of Inter Milan on June 10 and was passed over by Scaloni. Julian Álvarez, who will play the clash for City, is on the final list.

Other absences were also felt in relation to the world champion team. This is the case of striker Paulo Dybala, who is recovering from a muscle injury suffered with Roma. In addition to him, Lisandro Martínez and Papu Gómez are other players who are injured.

Argentina’s first friendly on this Fifa Date will be against Australia, on June 15 in Beijing, China. The current world champions’ tour of Asia ends in Jakarta, the Indonesian capital, where the three-time champions face the home team on the 19th.
