Olympic champion Lasickienė says she considers her international career to be over
Olympic champion in high jump Maria Lasitskene spoke about her retirement. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
“I consider my international career to be over. Everything has been decided long ago, no matter what we do, I think we are not expected there. I have no hopes,” she said. The 30-year-old athlete added that she was not ready to end her career and wanted to perform more.
Earlier, Lasitskene answered the question about changing sports citizenship. The athlete said that she did not think about such a scenario due to her age. She stressed that young athletes may think about changing citizenship. “Everyone has to decide for himself,” summed up Lasitskene.
On March 23, World Athletics extended the suspension of Russian athletes from competitions under the auspices of the organization. At the same time, the membership of the All-Russian Federation of Athletics (ARAF), suspended in 2015 due to systematic violations of anti-doping rules by Russians, was restored.
