Boca Juniors loses to Deportivo Pereira-COL, but remains leader of Group F in Libertadores

For the fourth round of Libertadores CupBoca Juniors visited Deportivo Pereira-COL this Wednesday night, at the Estadio Hernán Ramírez Villegas, in Pereira (COL), and lost by 1-0. Arley Rodríguez scored the only goal of the game.

Thus, the Argentine club suffers the first defeat in the competition, but remains at the top of Group F, with seven points. Thus, it is tied with the Colombian team, but is ahead on goal difference. The home team even won the second consecutive match in the tournament and assumed the vice-leadership. Colo-Colo, in third place with five, and Monagas-VEN, at the bottom with two, complete the bracket.

In the next round, therefore, Boca Juniors will receive the Chileans, at 9 pm (Brasília time) on Tuesday (6), in La Bombonera, in Buenos Aires (ARG). Earlier, from 7 pm, Deportivo Pereira will visit the Venezuelans, at the Monumental de Maturín Stadium, in Maturín (VEN).

Before that, however, the Argentine club has commitments for the national championship. The Xeneizes return to the field on Sunday, when they face Tigre, for the 18th round of the Argentine, at 19:00, also in La Bombonera.

Deportivo Pereira’s goal against Boca Juniors

The only goal of the match came in the 33rd minute of the second half. After Johan Bocanegra’s cross, Arley Rodríguez moved from the spot and headed in from the penalty spot to beat Romero and open the scoring for Deportivo Pereira.

In the previous minute, the hosts had a chance to open the scoring. Jorge Figal took the penalty, signaled by the Brazilian referee Wagner do Nascimento Magalhães. In the kick, however, Juan Zuluaga stopped in defense of Romero.

Liverpool-URU beat Independiente del Valle and enter Group E

In another international clash tonight, Liverpool-URU beat Independiente del Valle-ECU by 1-0 in Uruguay. The only goal of the game was scored by Ruben Bentancourt. The visitors had goalkeeper Moisés Ramírez expelled in the first half.

With that, the Uruguayan team embolished Group E – that of Corinthians – of the continental competition. Now, the Argentinos Juniors lead with eight points, followed by the Ecuadorians, who have six. Timão is third, with four – the same score as Liverpool, last for having the worst goal difference.

In the next round, the Brazilians visit Independiente del Valle, at 7 pm on Wednesday (7), in Ecuador. At the same time, the Argentine team faces the Uruguayans, in Argentina.
