Without a coach since the departure of Antonio Conte, the Tottenham already defined a new target for the position. According to information provided by the British newspaper The Athleticthe club would be watching and is already preparing an offer for Arne Slot, Dutch champion coach for Feyenoord.
The news reported that Slot became the first option to take over the team during the last week. He would even have passed ahead of names like the Spaniard Luis Enrique and the Italian Roberto De Zerbi, currently in charge of Brighton.
In an interview with ESPN, Feyenoord director Dennis te Kloese has denied any contact coming from Tottenham. However, the coach’s representative, Rafaela Pimenta, is expected to meet with club executives to discuss his stay amid Spurs interest.
Tottenham have been looking for a manager since Conte’s sacking on March 26 this year. The first substitute on an interim basis was his assistant Cristian Stellini, who ended up being dismissed after taking a 6-1 thrashing to Newcastle, for the Premier League.
The one chosen to take over the team until the end of the season was Ryan Mason, a former player of the club. The attempt still didn’t work, as the assistant won only one victory in the last five games, leaving the team in eighth place in the Premier League.
During this period, the London club saw Arne Slot win Feynoord’s first Dutch Championship title since 2016/17. The commander started his career on the sidelines for AZ and joined his current team at the end of 2020.
Slot also won the second place in the Conference League against Roma last season. In total, there are 32 wins, ten draws and five defeats this season so far.
