Manchester City, PSG, Real Madrid, Inter and Sporting Lisboa, to the round of 16

The Champions League already exceeded fifth day of the group stage. This Wednesday eight games were played by the teams in groups A, B, C and D. There were goals in all of them.

All eyes were on Manchester where City beat PSG (2-1), but both teams won the ticket to the round of 16, given that Leipzig thrashed Brugge (0-5). Manchester City (12 points) secured the lead in Group A and PSG (8 points) will follow through as second. Leipzig (third) and Bruges (fourth) will have a place in the Europa League on the last day.

Real Madrid and Inter Milan did not fail and sealed their pass to the next phase. Real Madrid successfully beat the Sheriff (0-3), while Inter beat Shakhtar Dontesk (2-0). Real Madrid (12 points) and Inter (10 points) will meet on the sixth matchday and will have at stake the leadership of group D. The Sheriff (6 points) will play the Europa League and Shakhtar (1 point) are eliminated.

The surprise of the day was a Sporting de Lisboa that achieved victory against Borussia Dortmund (3-1), qualified for the round of 16 and sent Dortmund to the Europa League. The Portuguese continue ahead as second in Group C with 9 points and the Germans with 6 points will finish the group stage in third place. Ajax (15 points) that were already classified, beat Besiktas (0 points) by 1-2. The Dutch team has won all five games played so far.

Liverpool also continues with full victories after beating Porto (2-0), and Atlético de Madrid complicated their pass to the second round after losing against Milan (0-1). Liverpool are guaranteed the leadership of group B. Porto (2nd with 5 points), Milan (3rd with 4 points) and Atlético de Madrid (4th with 4 points) They reach the last day with options to qualify for the next phase of the competition.
