FIFA bans current RPL players and coaches from suspending contracts with clubs
The International Football Federation (FIFA) has extended permission to suspend contracts with Russian Premier League (RPL) clubs. This was reported on the website of the organization.
According to the new conditions, foreign players and coaches who continue to work in Russian clubs will not be able to use the option. Also deprived of this opportunity are those who signed or extended the contract with the team after March 7, 2022. It is noted that the players who took advantage of the option can extend the suspension of the contract for another season.
FIFA allowed RPL legionnaires to unilaterally suspend contracts on March 7, 2022. Initially, the option was available until June 30, 2022, but then its validity was extended until June 30, 2023.
On February 28, 2022, FIFA and the Union of European Football Associations excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. Clubs do not play in European competitions, and the Russian team is suspended from participation in official matches.
