Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with Chairman of the Supreme Court Vyacheslav Lebedev, pointed out the need to work with experts and deputies on a bill on the humanization of criminal practice. According to Lebedev, work on the relevant bill is close to completion, the Kremlin press service reports.
According to the Chairman of the Supreme Court, the draft law deals with the humanization of criminal practice against women who have committed crimes of small and medium gravity for the first time. As Lebedev explained, the final goal of this bill is that a person, if he is brought for the first time for these offenses, would not be held criminally liable at all. First, there could be administrative or other disciplinary responsibility.
Women for a minor crime committed for the first time, it is proposed not to prosecute, even if they do not have registration, Lebedev added.
Recall that earlier a member of the Human Rights Council, Eva Merkacheva, appealed to Vladimir Putin with a request to cancel detention in a pre-trial detention center for women who have committed “non-violent crimes.”
