Phoenix Mercury basketball player Brittney Griner has spoken out about returning to matches after being imprisoned in Russia. Her words are quoted by Fox News.
The athlete said that she was pleased to return to the competition. “The love of the players and fans has been amazing. I definitely felt it and I felt it when I was there. [в России]”, she noted.
Greiner, who was found guilty in Russia of drug smuggling, was exchanged on December 8, 2022 for Viktor Bout, a Russian convicted in the United States. She was sentenced to nine years in a penal colony and spent ten months in detention.
Greiner was detained at Sheremetyevo Airport on February 17, 2022. In the luggage of the athletes, they found several vapes with banned cannabis oil.
