Napoli defeats Internazionale in another party game for the Italian title

In another party game at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium, in Naples, for the Italian Championship title won for the first time after 33 years, Napoli defeated Internazionale by 3-1, this Sunday, for the 36th round. All goals came in the second half, with Anguissa, Di Lorenzo and Gaetano scoring for the Neapolitans and Lukaku scoring for the Milan team.

Since securing the title against Udinese, around 20 days ago, Napoli have been celebrating more than playing on the field. Even so, they defeated Fiorentina and now Internazionale playing in front of their fans. These two recent victories made the Napoli team complete an important mark: they won, at least once, all 19 opponents in the championship.

The victory made Napoli reach 86 points, still with a chance to surpass their best campaign in terms of points in history. He made 91 in the 2017/2018 season, when he was runner-up – the champion was Juventus. Two games to go against Bologna, away from home, next week, and Sampdoria, in Naples, in the game in which they will receive the champion’s cup.

Internazionale, on the other hand, entered the field with an alternative team thinking about the Italian Cup final against Fiorentina, this Wednesday, at the Olympic stadium, in Rome. It got 66 points, within the G4. It is in the classification zone for the next edition of the Champions League and that will be important if it does not win the title of the European competition against Manchester City, on June 10, in Istanbul, Turkey.

Others games

Two more matches took place this Sunday and one of them defined the second relegated to Serie B next season. In the south of Italy, Lecce and Spezia tied without goals and the result determined the mathematical fall of Cremonese, which on Saturday had lost to Bologna. Thus, Cremona’s team joins Sampdoria on that list.

The point won kept Lecce and Spezia in the fight to escape the third and last place in the relegation zone. The first occupies the 16th position with 33 points, two more than the rival. Verona, which opens the knockout in 18th place, has 30.

In Turin, Fiorentina drew 1-1 with Torino in their last match before the Italian Cup final. He lost with Jovic’s goal, three minutes into the second half, and managed to equalize with Sanabria, at 21. Both have 50 points and occupy an intermediate position in the leaderboard: the home team in 10th place and Florence in 11th.
