Alavés descended to the First RFEF Women’s this Saturday May 20 after draw 1-1 with Alhama (1-1) in Ibaia the party corresponding to the 30th and last day of the F League.

The two teams faced the match in a similar situation: only victory was worth it and, furthermore, they had to wait for other results to find out if they were saved or not.

Thus, the tension was palpable from the beginning. Both Alavés and Alhama had a hard time generating scoring chances. The Albiazul team warned in the 26th minute with a shot by Marta San Adrián that was saved by the goalkeeper Laura. Alhama, on the other hand, had an opportunity to get ahead on the scoreboard; at minute 36, Pinel scored 0-1 after receiving the ball inside the area and beating the goalkeeper with a cross shot.

The game was used uphill for an Alavés who was able to tie before reaching relegation, but Camila Saez’s shot went into the hands of Laura.

After the restart, Alavés stepped onto the pitch with the intention of coming back, although the first chance was for Alhama with a shot saved by goalkeeper Larqué. Later, the Vitoria-Gasteiz team tried it with balls into the area and long shots, but they were unable to pierce the rival goal.

Alavés did not stop trying and tied the game in the 84th minute with a goal by Camila Saez (1-1)which gave hope to the squad led by Iñigo Juaristi.

However, although they tried until the end, Alavés did not get the second goal, and together with Alhama they certified relegation to the First RFEF Women’s Division.
