WBC refuses to approve rematch between Russian Bivol and Mexican Alvarez
The World Boxing Council (WBC) spoke about a rematch between Russian Dmitry Bivol and Mexican Saul Alvarez. The words of the head of the organization, Mauricio Suleiman, are quoted by Boxing Scene.
The organization refused to approve the fight in the second middle weight category. “No, not now,” Suleiman said.
On May 7, 2022, Bivol turned out to be stronger than Alvarez in a fight for the World Boxing Association (WBA) light heavyweight championship belt. After the Mexican called the Russian for revenge. Bivol expressed his willingness to drop down from light heavyweight to super middleweight to fight for the four championship belts held by Alvarez, but he opposed such a fight.
Bivol has never lost in the professional ring, he has 21 wins. Alvarez has 59 wins, two losses and two draws.
