Ancelotti says he’ll stay at Real Madrid next season despite being knocked out of the Champions League
Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti answered a question about the future at the club. His words are quoted by journalist Fabrizio Romano in Twitter.
The specialist said that, despite the relegation from the Champions League, he will remain with the Madrid team. “I think the President made it clear 15 days ago that we will take a step towards excellence next year. Next season I will be here to fight for the Champions League,” said the coach, adding that no one doubts him.
Earlier, Cadena SER reported that Real Madrid could end their partnership with Ancelotti even if the club wins any trophies in the 2022/2023 season. The reason for the possible resignation is the deteriorated situation in the locker room of Madrid.
On May 17, Real Madrid lost to Manchester City in the semi-finals of the Champions League. In the sum of two meetings, the Spaniards lost to the British with a score of 1:5 (1:1, 0:4). Ancelotti made his 191st appearance in the tournament as a manager and set a record for this indicator.
