Bach announced his desire to see athletes from all countries at the Olympic Games

The head of the IOC, Thomas Bach, expressed his desire to see athletes from all countries at the Olympic Games

The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, said he wants to see athletes from all teams at the Olympic Games. His words are quoted by Blitz Sport.

“Athletes from all countries should be allowed to participate in the qualifying competitions that are already underway,” Bach said. He noted that he was happy to receive the support of the President of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, and expressed his hope that more federations would comply with the recommendations of the IOC.

Earlier on May 17, the International Handball Federation (IHF) reported that the Russian men’s team had lost the chance to compete at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. The organization explained that Russian athletes no longer have the opportunity to qualify.

On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the events in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be suspended from participation in competitions.
