Without continuity, Joao Rojas Mendoza terminates contract with Sao Paulo

The Ecuadorian arrived in the Tricolor box in 2018, a knee injury and the long recovery process took him away from the leading role in Brazil.

The Sao Paulo terminated his contract with Ecuadorian attacker Joao Rojas Mendoza on Tuesday, whose rights belonged to the Brazilian club since June 2018, and released him to begin negotiating a new destination for the next season.

The São Paulo complex agreed to anticipate the termination of the contract, which expired at the end of December this year, before the interest of the Ecuadorian to say goodbye to a club in which it has not been taken advantage of for several months and sign for a new team.

Rojas arrived from the Mexican Cruz Azul in mid-2018 and he performed well in his first games.

But one delicate knee injury a few months after his arrival and slow recovery they moved him away from the titular formation.

The Ecuadorian played his last game as a starter when the team was still led by Argentine Hernán Crespo.

Since the arrival of Rogério Ceni to the bench, Rojas was called up for two games for the Brazilian Championship, but did not get to play in any.

At the beginning of this year, after having had a good performance in the Paulista Championship with coach Crespo, Sao Paulo renewed until December the contract of the Ecuadorian who expired in May. Rojas scored five goals in 51 games.

With 32 years, Brazilian media point out that Rojas’ future is not defined, that he has a option to return to Ecuador, but also with Brazilian club polls, with Porto Alegre Inter between stakeholders (D)
