With 18 kilometers to go, Van Vleuten, who was fifth overall, and Vollering were in the lead with a group of three riders behind: Reusser, Niewadoma and Baril.

Vollering’s teammate and second overall is a great roller and specialist against the clock, and that, logically, has played in her favour.

The differences have been increasing little by little, and the Swiss has left in nothing the 56 seconds that Vollering took in the general. Thus, Reusser has appeared at the finish line alone to achieve a great victory and with a more than comfortable advantage of 2:38 about the group of persecutors, among them the already dethroned overall leader, Demi Vollering. Marlen Reusser has thus culminated a round day, with a stage victory and victory also in the general of Itzulia Women 2023.
