German Interior Minister Feser urged to ban the issuance of visas to Russian athletes
German Interior Minister Nancy Feser called for a ban on issuing visas to Russian athletes. Her words are quoted by Die Welt.
Feather asked the Foreign Office to support her in preventing Russians from entering Germany. In her opinion, this is necessary so that Russia cannot use sports fields as a means of propaganda.
On March 28, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced the possibility of allowing Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine to compete in a neutral status. Since then, a number of federations have followed the recommendations of the IOC.
At the same time, Russian athletes face problems with admission to tournaments due to complex verification. In particular, the International Fencing Federation banned Olympic champions Sofia Velikaya, Yana Yegoryan, Sofia Pozdnyakova, Olga Nikitina and nine other saber fencers from participating in competitions.
