The Ministry of Sports criticized the requirements of WADA to RUSADA

Oleg Matytsin called WADA requirements to RUSADA interference in the legislative process

Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin criticized the demands of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) to change federal laws. His words are reported by RIA Novosti.

Matytsin called these demands direct interference in the legislative process. “Russia is actively improving domestic anti-doping legislation, the law on the approval of anti-doping rules directly by RUSADA has come into force. This work will be continued, but without outside interference and ultimatum demands,” he stressed.

On May 10, WADA stated that RUSADA does not comply with the World Anti-Doping Code. It was noted that the organization cannot ensure that the Russians meet each of the recovery conditions set out by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in 2020.

In December 2019, the WADA Executive Committee decided to deprive Russia of the right to host the Olympic Games and World Championships, and Russian athletes to compete without a flag and anthem for four years. The reason was the deprivation of RUSADA of the status of compliance. In November 2022, WADA decided to extend the suspension of RUSADA.
