Inter beats Milan with goals in the first half and opens advantage in the Champions semi

This Wednesday, the International visited the Milan for the semifinal first leg of the Champions League and won by 2 to 0. Dzeko and Mkhitaryan scored the goals of the game early in the duel, at 8 and 11 minutes of the initial stage, respectively.

With that, Inter Milan has a good advantage for the return game, which will be next Tuesday, at 4 pm (Brasília time), in front of their fans at Giuseppe Meazza.

Before the big decision, however, Internazionale has an appointment this Saturday, at 3:45 pm, against Sassuolo for the Italian Championship, at home. Also for Serie A, Milan will visit Spezia this Saturday at 1 pm.

The game

Right at the beginning of the duel, at eight minutes, Dzeko finished first after a corner kick in the area and scored a great goal for Inter. Just three minutes later, after a good move on the left, Mkhitaryan dribbled into the area and finished hard to extend the scoreboard. At 15, it was Calhanoglu’s turn to scare for Inter and stamp the goalkeeper Maignan’s crossbar.

In the 30th minute it looked like Milan’s situation was going to get worse after Lautaro Martínez was awarded a penalty, but VAR called the referee for review and the infraction was disallowed. Even so, Inter’s dominance did not stop before the break.

In the second half, Milan balanced the match slightly and almost reduced the score in the 17th minute, when Tonali hit the foot of the crossbar by Onana. The more balanced duel, however, favored the winning team, which paced the match and limited the opponent’s attacks, while seeking to kill the game.

Even without scoring the third goal, Inter did enough to hold the advantage built in the first half and close the account at 2-0.
