Real Madrid won the Copa del Rey title this Saturday by defeating Osasuna 2-1 at La Cortuja stadium in Seville. Scorer of two goals for the team from the capital of Spain in the final – both with moves started by Vinicius Junior – striker Rodrygo celebrated a lot on the field for having scored the net and for having completed his gallery of cups at the club.

“It’s been a long time since Real Madrid won this competition (since the 2013-2014 season). For me, I just needed this one to complete (gallery of titles at Real). Today (Saturday) was a very special day for me. There were two goals and I’m very happy”, said the former Santos striker, in an interview while still on the lawn shortly before receiving the medal and seeing Frenchman Karim Benzema lift the trophy.
“Yes, I knew that (that I had won almost everything at Real Madrid). I knew that there was only one left. That’s why I always said that this was a title that I really wanted to win. Now, at 22 years old, I’ve won everything possible. But I want to much more, I want to keep winning. This Cup was very special, in a very special environment since we left to warm up. Well, a special day for me”, he continued.
Revealed by Santos, Rodrygo was sold to Real Madrid in June 2018, but only left the Santos club a year later, when he reached the age of majority. In these four seasons in Spain, the striker had already won the Spanish Championship (twice), the European Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup, the Uefa Super Cup and the Spanish Super Cup (twice). Now it has completed the gallery with the Copa del Rey.
“Very happy. I asked God because it was a very difficult match, a very difficult field to play. But I managed to score the goals and I am very happy”, he concluded.
