Germany canceled the stage of the Foil Fencing World Cup due to the admission of Russians
Another fencing tournament has been canceled in Germany in protest against the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. Reported by the Süddeutsche Zeitung.
Bonn will not host the Foil Fencing World Cup for men. The competition was supposed to take place from 10 to 12 November 2023.
Earlier, Germany refused to host the Women’s Foil Fencing World Cup. After that, several other European countries announced the decision not to hold tournaments for the same reason.
On March 10, it became known that the International Fencing Federation decided to once again allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in tournaments. It was noted that the return of the teams to the starts in a neutral status will take place no earlier than mid-April. However, the process was delayed due to the nuances of the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee, and athletes still cannot compete.
