Litvinenko’s doctor says basketball player Shved’s rehabilitation could take up to 12 months
Sports doctor Andrei Litvinenko assessed the chances of CSKA Moscow defender Alexei Shved to return to basketball after the attack. His words are quoted by Zvezda.
Litvinenko said that the rehabilitation period for the 34-year-old athlete could take from 6 to 12 months. “Unfortunately, it may never come back. Everything will depend on how well the coordination of movements and mental features are preserved, ”he considered, adding that one should hope for a favorable outcome.
On May 4, CSKA President Andrei Vatutin said that the athlete is still in the hospital, but his condition is improving. He stressed that it is too early to talk about the timing of the patient’s discharge.
The Swede was attacked on 2 May. As a result of a fight at the entrance to a restaurant in the center of Moscow, the basketball player received a head injury. At the hospital, he was also diagnosed with retrograde amnesia, a fracture of the temporal bone, and an epidural hematoma.
