Hockey club CSKA wanted to extend the contract with the drafted goalkeeper Fedotov
The Moscow hockey club CSKA is discussing the signing of a new contract with the goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov drafted into the army. The team’s desire to keep the TASS goalkeeper was announced by the president of the red-blue Igor Esmantovich.
“We are waiting for Ivan Fedotov after he has served in the army. This is our goalkeeper, he is in touch with us. We have an excellent working relationship,” said Esmantovich.
On July 1 last year, Fedotov was detained in St. Petersburg on suspicion of evading military service. He wanted to fly to the United States to play for the Philadelphia Flyers in the National Hockey League next season. The player was sent to serve in the Russian Navy.
Later it was reported that Fedotov and CSKA had a conflict because of his decision to leave for the NHL. At the same time, agent Shumi Babaev said that the goalkeeper and the Moscow club maintained normal relations.
